Dear 4th Grade Parents,
Thank you to everyone who donated and volunteered to make our Literary Character Day successful. It was great to see so many wonderful costumes! Also, congratulations to 4C for having the highest percentage over their reading goal and earning a pancake breakfast! We have another exciting week coming up!

Academics this week:
Language Arts:
- Writing/Grammar: Students will continue to work on an opinion paragraph and will
type their paragraph. They will also work on summarizing and deconstructing an argumentative passage.
- Literature: This week we will finish reading Prince Caspian and study themes within the text. Our end of novel project will be sent home this week, and is due Tuesday, November 13th. Please also be sure to continue to encourage your child to practice Paul Revere’s Ride.
Math: This week in math, we’ll continue to practice adding and subtracting fractions with related denominators. At the end of the week, students will learn how to add and subtract mixed numbers with related denominators. This topic will incorporate all the facets of fractions we’ve learned so far: finding equivalent fractions, writing fractions greater than 1, and manipulating mixed numbers.
Science: We will continue our unit on magnetism and electricity.. For our upcoming lesson on electricity students will need to bring in a 9 volt battery. Please send in a 9 volt battery this week with your child.
History: This week we will continue our Middle Ages unit by learning about the Magna Carta and its impact on Europe and governments throughout history.
Have a great week!
Sincerely,
4th Grade Team
